Just as you have subjects in english: I, you, he/she, we, our, and they, you do in spanish, too. you also have a formal way of saying you, which is usted/ustedes(for plural) and they are conjugated in the third and sixth box.

You use a/an to say you need a pencil, it is indefinite because you are not being specific to what you want.

As you see, none of the months or days in Spanish are capitalized, this is because the Spanish language has no capitals, unless you are starting a new sentence, or it is a name, such as Tom.


The blue pencil. Using the is being definite because you are being specific. Pencil is singular and masculine, so you would use el. El lápiz azul.
A slice of pizza. A is indefinite because it is not being specific. Since it is just one slice an slice is singular, it would be: Una rebanada de pizza.
They are happy. Since the subject is they, you would use the sixth box and the subject becomes Ellos if it is a group of boys or a group of boys and girls. If just a group of girls it is Ellas.
My birthday is in April. Since it is my birthday you say Mi. April is abril and remember, you do not capitalize it. Mi cumpleaños es en abril.
I go to school Monday to Friday. Since it is saying I, you use the subject yo. Go is ir and conjugated to voy. Monday is lunes and Friday is viernes. Remember, you do not capitalize the days.Yo voy a escuela lunes a viernes.
Our family shops. Since our is the subject, in Spanish our subject gets changed in the fifth box. Making the subject: Vosotros.
